I'll bake with strawberries next time I am home, I can make a mean strawberry - rhubarb pie!
These things are always bittersweet, aren't they?
I think having your son leaving is the hard part of the end of summer. Your beautiful sketch book is going to be a wonderful keep sake when he reads the part about the strawberries to his children one day.
Bittersweet - thats it!! Thanks Laure for finding the perfect word.
Pat - yes it is sad to see him go off back to college, but I am glad to have my sketchbook memories to look back through. The surprise strawberries of this summer remind me that small everyday things often become some of my most treasured memories!!!
Oh....your painted journals are so beautiful. I think Laure's term "bittersweet" is perfect. I really enjoyed reading your post on the night-blooming flower. Very cool the date in your grandmother's calendar matching yours...serendipity...it's like she's talking to you! :-)
Claire, your sketchbook is a real family treasure. Thanks for sharing all the small pieces of your life that are so important. These memories are the essence of a good life. I love visiting your blog -- your sketches always trigger some wonderful memory in my life.
I love this, what a nice way to journal. At least the strawberries will live in your heart forever...and Sean: )
