Kids can be a challenge ....

I'll bet that something came to mind other than a sunset... Let me explain... my kids periodically challenge me to paint something like a sunset or artwork for a beer label. Most recently, my son Sean left me another teasing phone message about a beautiful sunset in San Luis Obispo. I have painted a couple of these before (see one and two). I find it's an interesting exercise to paint a scene just from some words without any visual reference -- good practice. I have fun transcribing the phone message onto my journal page with my painted image to capture more of the memory.

Thanks Sean for the latest challenge!!!

Very cool, Claire, and a fantastic challenge!

We used to have my father-in-law through out a word once a week and then Chris and I would "illustrate" it however we chose and it was a lot of fun too.

Oh Claire, I love it. How fun to have your kids involved in your beautiful artwork. My youngest son is a somewhat starving artist in Chicago, and is fun to compare notes with. He has a Philosophy degree, can't do alot with that.!!
Happy Easter and the sunset is awesome

Yes, this son is detail oriented - he is a 3rd year architecture student in a 5 year program. So fun to share with him. He just told me last night about his new "Architecture presentation" class which will use some watercolor! Can't wait to see what he does.

That is such a cool idea, Claire! The finished project is beautiful. How fun to bond with a child over art.

Lovely, talking to our children is lovely and creating a master piece is icing on the cake.
