EDiM21 Something Antique

I've fallen in love with these 3 small ceramic serving pieces from the Santa Fe train line that belong to my mom. I think they are individual cream and sugar containers, and a small plate or saucer. She must have picked them up when she and my Dad were chasing his love of trains. Lots of memories of trains and train-related items over the years!!

EDiM21: Draw something antique. This is part of a series that I started in May. I'm still trying to catch up on a challenge that I joined for the month of May - to do items 1 to 31 from the Everyday Matters list.

Such an attractive page in your sketchbook... lovely layout and paintings!

I like trains too. We vacationed in Utah a few years ago and rode the old train in Heber City (to Vivian Park). It was a three hour round trip and just delightful!

Oh Claire, how sweet. I love this page. My grandfather worked for the Santa Fe his whole working life. Love this.

Thank you for your comments. I found out an interesting tidbit from my Mom tonight -- these dishes were a surprise gift to her from my Dad many years ago. He actually worked for the Santa Fe for a short period of time.

A delight, as always, Claire, to peek in your sketchbook (and a bit of your world)!!

My one and only experience with a train was one in Alaska! It was great fun and Chris and I have often talked of doing it again.

What a beautiful keepsake, Claire, both the dishes and your journal page of them. You always find a nice way to honor your parents.

As for trains, we have railroad tracks running through our backyard, so we see and hear trains every day. Our community is riddled with train tracks. It's a comforting sound to me, either to see/hear "our train", or hear the distant sounds of the other trains throughout the town.
