Dependable Wallet

We all have things that we depend on everyday -- like cell phones, key chains, purses, wallets, and checkbooks. It is easy to forget about them as they come in and go out of our lives. I've counted on my brown leather wallet for several years now. It has gone almost everywhere with me, and it has served me well. Recently the zipper broke and I realized that it was time to retire the trusty wallet. I'm really going to miss this wallet!! Given that it was a special gift from my son, I decided to draw it to have a lasting memory of it for years to come. Thanks Ryan!!

Wonderful way to memorialize the wallet. Good luck on finding a new one - it seems it's always a struggle for me to find one that's as good as the old one!

What a great way to preserve a memory! I still have my son's bunny slippers when he was an infant.

Claire, your sketches are so lovely and the personal story that goes with each and a lovely dimension.

I am adding a link to your blog from mine. I am so happy to ran into each other at the watercolor demo.

It's great Claire.
I love how you draw and paint.
The suggestion of detail on the coins against the depth of colour of the leather.
It's one of those Every Day Matter type sketches ... as you say. I imagine that a 'practical' gift is sometimes given without realising the potential sentiment of the item.

Claire, I have just been reading Dave King's blog and I think you might like it: http://picsandpoems.blogspot.com/

Dave is an English writer and his blog features his writings and poetry. He has a real way with words. Somehow he made his way to my blog, thus I found his.
